ooooh. im realllyyyy slow but i finally watched lust, caution. the uncensored version. teehee.
tang wei really looks different from when i saw her during the gloden horse awards. her face is much rounder in the movie.
i find her character in the movie to be a very stupid one. she caused the death of herself and her fellow classmates because of a 6 carat pink diamond ring (se, jie geddit)?? its like the moment she saw the ring, she caved in and told him to flee the place. -.- "silly and very naive", in the words of gillian chung.
the fleeing part was funny too. he practically dove into the car horizontally.
ok, the sex scenes.
i dunno if they wanted the movie to be authentic but, women at that time do not shave their armpits? they watch western movies, go to western coffee houses, wear western clothes but do not have the decency to buy western shavers? and the sight of tony licking her armpit (hair and all) was... er... i just dun see how tt is sexually appealing. it evokes my sense of smell, if u get what i mean. PLUS, she wears cap sleeved cheongsams. raise her hand and....... =S
speaking of cheongsams, her body shape is weird to pull it off. dun see the big hoo ha abt her wearing the cheongsams.
and oh, i saw tony's balls. =S wonder how the scenes were shot bcos they looked reallyyyy real. and there were weird positions that i nvr thot was possible. of cos, how would i noe rite?? -gleaming eyes of innocence-
tony's character was a bit of an S&M freak also. just dont see how she could fall in love with him. i din get any signs from her that she even liked him remotely. no sparks there. but i could definitely feel e sparks between her and lee hom. lee hom is soooooo cute. xD his complexion is flawless! -swoons-
i liked the ending tho. it showed a sentimental side of tony's character... sitting on her bed and feeling the sheets after she was executed... but i couldnt catch the dialogue between him and his wife. his mandarin is undecipherable sometimes.
yes, the subtitles werent working. and considering that there was shanghainese, cantonese, english, mandarin and tamil/hindi, it was alot of guesswork on my part. the cantonese part can listen a bit but the shanghainese sounded more like korean than mandarin.
nice movie though. :) love the heartrending theme song.
