this is gonna be a long entry.
recap for chalet.
night cycling was.....mighty horrendous.
we rode from our chalet at changi, stopped at bedok 85 for supper and ended at ecp macs. sounds near huh. the 'to' journey took four friggin hours. the journey back was faster, taking about 2 hrs (but no less painful) cos we took short cuts and rushed to avoid the early morning traffic.
when we started out at 1245am, everyone was in high spirits. and after all the upslopes and crossing of overhead bridges, we (maybe only me) just wanted to get it over and done with. butt was fiercely aching (esp after sitting down and resting ur butt on normal chairs and getting back on the hard bike seat), palms were getting painful from the prolonged holding of the bike handles, and of cos, legs were tired from all the peddling. while travelling back to our chalet, derrick was considering flagging down an unoperating bus to fetch us all. i think he tried it once but it was unsuccessful.
riding on the roads was pretty frightening too. it may be late at night/ early in the morning but there were plentiful of cars. most cars would get out of our ways (the left lane) but some roads are too small for the cars/ buses to do that.
on a side note, our chalet was very near the old changi hospital so hafiz decided to cycle past there. it looked soo eerie and creepy at night. when we passed it, hordes of bats were scattering and flying away.
spooky.
we saw one car driving up to the main gate. omg. wonder what they were planning to do.
and at bedok 85, i saw gee hoe with his CSC frens. turned out they were on a night cycle trip too! its not everyday you see someone u noe night cycling on the same night.
anyhow, we reached our chalet at close to 7am. everyone took turns bathing and sleeping at the same time. we just randomly took a spot to sleep on. too tired to care. as the hour passed, some ppl started leaving to do their own thing. in the end it was yuting, chaeyun and i who ended up sleeping till 545pm. of cos we woke up a few times here and there. and i'd finally snagged a bed/ pillow and blanket when most ppl went off. =)
anyways, though it was awfully tiring, it was a very enriching experience too. i din noe i could cycle for 6 hours and survive all the upslopes. well, there was no way for me to give up too bcos the bike would be a problem. i might possibly probably do it again...but not in the near future. definitely not. im not gonna touch a bike anytime soon.

on sat night, eric came and fetched me to sin chang's bbq and we lingered for awhile. it was officially my first meal of the day since i slept the day away.
we waited till the bbq ended to leave and go back to the chalet.
the initial plan was to have a movie marathon but everyone was so tired that we slept after watching guessx3. but it was uncomfortable to squeeze so i din really slp much.

the main activity on sunday was kayaking at kallang river!
derrick and hafiz were using us as guinea pigs to see if they could pull off a leadership training programme for sec sch kids as a deal they had with the kayak company. no matter since its free. =D
well kayaking is a little scarier than canoeing bcos the kayak is not that stable.
its easy to capsize!
capsize count: khai 2 vs joce 1
ok to be fair, we were attempting to do the kallang wave aka everyone standing up on the kayak. i was beside khai so i nearly capsized twice too. luckily i have a heavy bum so i sat
back on my kayak pretty fast b4 any capsizing could occur.
well, after 3 capsizes, the coach (who is only one year older) decided to scrap the
kallang wave on our request.
after that we proceeded to the land for games, led by hafiz. they were fun! =)
and back onto the water we went for more games.
it was only after debriefing and giving feedback to hafiz that we ended.
we had to carry the kayaks and wash them and carry them back to their spots. not enuf guys for this outing!! =/
all in all, it lasted nearly 4 hours. i think it would take much shorter when the real programme commences.
and with rumbling tummys, all of us headed for bedok market for some really scrumptious food. stingray... hotplate beancurd...fried squid... you tiao with mayo..and my fave kangkong! dessert was cheese and mushroom prata!
hahaha. i have officially gained back all the calories i have lost. =/
at the end of the dinner, eric came again and fetched me back to his house. =D

all in all, this must be the most xiong chalet i have ever been to. but its all for good fun and experience. as joce says, it is only with steamy that we get to experience these outdoor activity stuff. i think we must be the most happening arts oweek group to still be in contact after a year. and we will be celeberating our one year anniversary next mth! =))))
