stories of love: the anthology series has gotta be one of the best locally produced show of all times. as the title says, its all about love. love between parents/child, love between grandchildren/grandparents and love between man and a woman/women. er yar..din catch last week's ep about a woman having an affair with her best fren's husband. damn. it looked interesting. ok anw, watching the show has never failed to bring tears to my eyes. the storyline is simple and realistic but the way the story is told just draws you in. this ep was abt a spoilt, rude boy being left to his granddad's care bcos his mom had to go overseas to work. (shes a single mom) and the mom n granddad are kinda estranged so its the 1st time the boy had seen his granddad. naturally, he cldnt stand living there cos his ah gong was a karang guni man, smelly, poor and all that. he even called him names like stupid old man and loser. (!!!) so right till the end, tho the ah gong had to continually dig up his life savings to buy him presents to satisfy him, he wasnt appreciative at all. the turning point came when he ran away in a fit. and when his ah gong's fren (acted by cassandra see) knocked some sense into him and brought him back, the ah gong had a bad fall due to the strewn beads on the floor. and then the boy saw the gameboy tt the ah gong had got it fixed for 100 bucks and even a new pokemon game, so he broke down and repented. he was basically a changed kid. he was suddenly a polite boy, collected junk on behalf of his ah gong, made a walking stick and also prepared breakfast. in the end the mom quit her job n came back and mended the broken ties with her dad with the encouragement of her son. typical story you say, but the storytelling was fantastic. and the subplots were pretty engaging too. like the boy who's infatuated with this gal and goes out of his way to pls her with the presence of a love rival. (he actually looks cute when he's not bullying his ah gong. gahs. ) and cassandra see's rship with the ah gong. pretty heartwarming stuff there. i love old men such as ah gongs like that. (not those chee ko peks la).

and as if there was not enough of saccharine in one night, ch u had this show whereby the hosts would help people to propose to their partners. and in this ep, the GIRL was the one who wants to propose to her bf. in front of the wisma crowd no less. awww so sweet. i love happy endings. -sighs-
