The moment my bum touched the seat, the performance started.
it was a simple set up on stage - a grand piano, a bunch of guitars, high chairs and stereo equipment. quite a vast contrast to when ajco filled that same stage with big drums, tons of performers on chairs and even squeezed in band members and their instrus.

that is why i think the concert hall ain't a very good venue and the duo admitted that. the best place for a more intimate setting is in a bar with everyone swaying along and swigging their glass of red wine. but that won't happen since they're too popular. 2 nights of being sold out.

Erlend's dreamy, ethereal voice shone through the acoustics with Eirik's perfect harmonizing. it's amazing what 2 guitars can achieve without sacrificing the richness of the song. And surprisingly, Eirik was really humorous and chatty. half expected him to slink into the background and let Erlend do all the talking but both of them provided equally good monologues. we basically laughed at everything they said. they were so entertaining! they really knew how to work a crowd. a case of better late than never, they finally asked the audience to stand up and groove to their songs midway. that's when everyone woke up and kicked into life instead of passively sitting there.

their performances were really heartfelt as well. u can tell they enjoyed playing and singing their songs. Erlend did some vocal stunts by mimicking a trumpet a couple of times! and this is why a piano and a guitar is all they need. it was a really funny sight seeing them discussing which song to play next since there was no set list. i just love improv and spontaneity in an artiste.

Feist showed up!! they do put up electrifying live shows.

there was no Feist in our singapore show unfortunately, so they asked the ladies to singalong! they shd have gotten a local female singer just like jason mraz sang with joi chua for 'Lucky'.

with the encores (they sang 4 amazing songs!), the whole show lasted nearly 2 hrs. it simply ended too fast. IMO, this is the 2nd best concert i've attended after Muse. 2010 is lookin good!

i love how cafeworld shows the season by changing the surrounding landscape.

last month, the trees were covered in snow. this month, there are blooms of flowers on the grass patches. pretty pretty.

but although it's technically spring, it's still snowing out there in my fave continent. =/

while on the bus to seletar camp, i noticed that the space opp the big open field in sengkang was up for retail development. finally more reasons to take bus 86. hopefully, it won't take years before the whole thing is done.

the retail cluster will defo liven up that area. it just seems a little barren now. and jalan kayu is too malaysia alr. nvr liked that place. cramped/lousy al fresco ambience/so many cars driving by next to your food. saw a couple of new eateries tho.

in retrospect, i dun really rmb eating there before. hmm.

reason why i jumped on the twitter bandwagon:

being a new media student, i shd have actually done so like right at the start, prolly 3-4 years ago before it got really crazily popular. and even more so when everyone started. but i dun like following the crowd for the sake of doing so. plus i found it useless and pointless since i'm not a celebrity/famous person/someone stuck in a disaster-prone area. who would actually want to read what i tweeted???

but on a very boring friday, i decided to try tweeting for the fun of it. and i got hooked. hurhurrr. mostly, i'm talking to myself since the people who decided to follow me somehow are random people and i haven't followed any friends yet. but i find that twitter is such a good outlet to stream my zipzapping random thoughts to. my mind is crazily active, so much so that i have trouble sleeping recently. =/

anyhoo, since my phone doesn't have internet on the go, i simply use StarHub's MobiTweet service, which is free (it's like sms-ing to no one in particular). the downside is that it's purely text based only.

on a side note, this expat girl followed me (have no reason how she found me) and i realised that she has an awesome blog! heh. she's from poland and working in sg and awesomely pretty. another plus point for joining twitter then!

I know this news is not new anymore but bcos it just only affected me, i felt like talking about it.

Last night, I met up with E and the only way to do that was to travel down to Kovan. So I looked up the Circle Line map to see how far away it is from Bishan. And then I realised that the LTA is planning to build a damn lotta stations in that small circle that is called Circle Line and its not even a complete circle. In fact, there is hardly any need to take any buses (ok, LESSER need)! Esp in the west! Holland V! West Coast! Kent Ridge! It sounds mighty exciting. No need to have a car to go to those "exclusive places" again. But geez, im gonna expect more crowds. not a win/win situation. What would that also mean for bus companies, specifically SBS, since Circle Line is owned by SMRT, well, SBS would just need to figure that out soon. There'll probably be a repeat of the incidents regarding the opening of the NEL years ago but not as bad (bus services along that line were still very much in demand bcos of the lack of Circle line/troublesome/no pt if u dun live near the station etc.).

There's gonna be a Thomson line too. But i'll prolly still walk to the bus stop at Seasons Park and take a bus there instead of walking to YCK and take a train to Bishan and transferring to the Circle Line. This is one example of how counter productive the Circle Line is and why buses will still be in business.

So anyway, back to my point. Besides checking out how many times i have to transfer trains (take train to Bishan, walk damn far away to transfer to Circle Line, then transfer to NEL), i also have to check the last train timings for 2 of the lines bcos they are notorious for ending services early. A lot of effort just to take a simple train down. But in the end, the train journey lasted about 25 min (off peak, duh), which is not too bad at all. Plus a little walking will do some good. But i still think all that transferring will not a peaceful journey make. After all, u have to keep looking out for which station to alight at (and for someone who likes to blast her ipod, it's tiring to have to keep remembering the stops) AND wait for multiple trains. Super time-inefficient. Pros and cons la, huh.

Although singapore is all but a tiny red dot, we are a very lazy bunch of people and we wish to zip by everywhere on a car. And since cars are considered a luxury commodity unfortunately, the next best thing is to build more train stations as time goes by and more train lines that do not link very well (thanks to the "opening up" of the public transport system and different companies) Hence, to travel to Kovan by train, I need to utilize 3 MRT lines.

~~Being a spoilt singaporean, i lament though. Why no train to Ikea? =/~~

scratch that. reached ikea@tp in only 25 min even after transferring 2 buses! awesome.

Blackbird has been postponed to september due to patrick teoh's pullout. I was just thinking of getting e tix when I read e news on Life! It's said tt patrick teoh couldn't handle e demands and technicalities of e role. =O He even broke down. tt's scary. i wonder who else is gonna replace him.

in any case, I think more ppl will go watch it in sept to see how hard e role is. It sounds like a really fascinating play. can't wait!

at the very last minute (while in the car already), we changed our dining destination from WR to Barracks@House bcos WR wasn't open on Mondays. If i didn't go online to check opening times..... we wld hv made a wasted trip. ROARS.

The last time i went to Barracks was with acid and i thought the place was pretty nice.

Had truffle fries again. The truffle taste was stronger this time methinks.

But i still prefer curly fries...shaker fries and cajun fries. =x simple pleasures.

Singapore is getting cool!
Like last year, there are a number of good acts coming to our sunny island to perform in these coming months (YAY but too broke to go)

for eg., MUSE dropped by again last night for an AWESOME KICKASS CONCERT! i missed them when they came in '07 bcos i din noe anyone who wanted to watch with me. so anw i was sooo happy that they came back for The Resistance tour!! waited abt 3 hrs for them to show up and they finally did, at 10pm! i wasnt a fan of Saosin and definitely not Rise Against. Wish they played longer than their 1.5 hrs set tho. but their songs were so amazing, i was jumping throughout and sweated like hell. it was such an adrenaline pumping show. I LOVEEE THEM!!

peanut butter cheese tart!

I finally had a taste of 1 Caramel today! Been wanting to try it for ages but my tummy always had no space for it. Ate a very early dinner (more like brunchner) and thus, i had ample room for dessert while waiting for our movie to start. The cake looks absolutely scrumptious and tastes just so. It reminded me of peanut butter sandwich and much more. love love LOVE!

The movie, on the other hand, wasn't as satisfying.

The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus

It was Heath Ledger's last movie but i feel he should have spent the last few months of his life acting in another movie that is more worthy (he didn't even manage to complete it). It just didn't appeal to me at all. I was waiting for the show to make some sense and by the time it somehow did, it was already midway. It was also full of cliches. Not my kinda fantasy i guess. Probably should have watched Everybody's Fine.

On a side note, i do LOVEE Tower Bridge as seen in this pic. I'm quite satisfied that I made it there in my recent London trip.

my snow tainted lens.

Counting down in front of Brandenburger Tor was amazing.

firstly, it was snowing heavily and my toes were FREEZING due to the melted snow getting through my boots.

secondly, many people were lighting up their own fireworks. so for the whole one hour or so, there were continuous fireworks bursting in the sky. obviously, these fireworks wont be as grand and beautiful as the ones lit up in marina bay but the atmosphere was so much more intimate and festive.

thirdly, did i mention the snow?? it was magical.

fourthly, sh bought bubbly off the street so at least there was alcohol to chug on while i was walking up and down.

but after that, it just went downhill bcos we ended up at sh's friend's friends place. they were chinese and i could only stand one or 2 of them. HAH. we played some sorta word game and got back to the hostel ard 5am dead beat. so that was new year's.

ive been putting in lotsa junk into my body ever since im back.

i was craving for bbq chicken wings the first night but everywhere we went to, the stall was closed. this was ard midnight to 1 plus on a friday night and it made me really sad that i can't find such a place that is open till late. the only choices were prata, bak chor mee and the like. BORING. but i was really hungry so in the end i settled for fu zhou mian, which weren't very nice.

the next night we immediately went down to newton circus.

KANGKONG, STINGRAY, SATAY AND MY BBQ WINGS! delishhh. i'd be happier if there were more wings tho. only ordered 5. that dinner wasn't filling. hur.

and guess where we went to for the next night?

POPEYES (which was finally open!!) ! somehow, my flights were always scheduled to arrive/depart at weird times so popeyes was always closed. but i get to satiate myself this time.

and ive been eating macs for the past consecutive 2 days.

AM I GROWING FAT OR WHAT?

my body clock has readapted itself to pre-europe times again. which means im asleep in the day and awake at night. this is blardy USA time. i nd to change it. i feel qt screwed up. thus i'll not go back to sleep (have been sleeping for the past 2 days. barely saw the sun). its 8am now. wish me luck. i was supposed to go clubbing last night but i was really toooo tired to budge. i dunno wth is happening to my body. owells. my slp is more impt. get to save some money as well.

the bangkok trip was surprisingly a fruitful one, to say the least, bcos i prefer shopping at boutiques with proper fitting rooms and all.

er.. to stock check:

5 pairs of shoes

4 tops
3 outerwear
2 pairs of shorts
2 working skirts
1 dress

and the most ex of the loot: 2 adidas sportswear.
they were having some kind of a saleeeee and i cldnt resist.

well. actually i din expect to buy much bcos i din the last time i went there.
and we totally skipped the big malls like central world and siam paragon so its wholesale all the way.

clothes were mostly bought at platinum (went there twice).
bought 3 bags at chatuchak.
mbk is a heaven for shoes.
baiyoke 2 is great for tshirts (but i dun wear them so ya).
we also did some shopping at union mall, which is relatively far out but a good spot to shop.
frankly, im qt happy with my shoes! :D
for guys......the shopping is pretty limited i must say.

i din take much photos there bcos bangkok is not pretty enuf for me to want to capture it (uneven paths, derelict buildings, polluted air, dingy alleys with shady characters). plus i was busy shopping.

this crazy ass japanese meal we had in the japanese village was plain crazy. we ordered too much food and we misunderstood the pricing for the party platter since words were all in thai and thus, we literally paid the price for that. plates of food just kept coming and the long table wasnt long enough. this was just lunch.

well anw, i was glad to get out of singapore, even though it was for a week.
but i fell ill on the last day too. still coughing my ass away. urgh.

so my kl trip din work bcos jazzy's passport was denied, but i still ate my full while in jb.
visited my uncle's fruit plantation first, then his sister's plantation (mostly dragonfruits and orchids) which was further off.

we went to her house to chill while eating the fruits tt their plantations bore... durians...long kongs... and tt jackfruit look/smell-alike fruit. i couldnt catch the name cos its in malay i think.
their house is so spacious and they have such a wonderful garden where they grow their own herbs and plants. my aunt kop-ed quite alot to bring back and grow. heh. they also gave us plentiful of fruits...so much so tt i had to call my parents down to help carry the stash. there were the long kongs, rambutans, tt jackfruit thingy, organic dragonfruits and a watermelon. will take ages to finsh them off!

anw i was really amazed at how the dragonfruit plant really looks like.

disclaimer: i was using my compact camera so the quality is lacking.

went back to stnix.
chopped off my hair.
heading across the causeway over the weekend and more.

if i wasnt desperate to get outta singapore, i wldnt be bothered to step a foot on that land actually.

but i get to eat free durians at my aunt's jb durian plantation and get to stay at fren's place in kl. so i actually save on half of transport and lodging.

hmm. i dun rmb much of kl tho. i only rmb the twin towers cos i took qt a number of pix of it, the hotel we stayed in, and the hard rock cafe, which we passed by, and the megamall which is overrated.

well. at least its not singa-boring-poreeeee.
i cant believe im saying this but... MSIA HERE I COME!
it makes me feel alot better since the money im spending there is sponsored. xD

my mom thought i was asked to home quarantine bcos i haven been out since i came back. LOL. ok technically i went out last night/morning when the bf came over. but thats just to the neighbourhood to eat breakfast. at 5am. and for that short moment, i got all sticky even though i'd just bathed a few hrs ago. humidity really kills.

so my weather widget is still set in Münster and the current temp is 12 deg. time is 7am. oh how i wish i was back there, snuggling inside my sweater and typing this. but unfortunately im back. i dun really dare to face the weather outside. =x paris was sweat-inducing hot but uh, little humidity so i was ok with it.

anyway, I REALLY MISS GERMANY. Münster, Bonn, Köln, Bremen, Berlin, Stuttgart.
Efficient, clean, modern public transport. and dun say singapore's is like that bcos in germany, feel free to bring ur bicycle (not folded), dogs, prams, wheelchair up the bus, train and whatnot. there are special allocated spaces. they are truly disabled/aged friendly. well. the train station in Münster doesnt have elevators but other cities do. so ya.

And i love the little quirks of the germans. like how complete strangers will shout out "gesundheit!" whenever i sneeze. so sweet. haha. and how sometimes they will greet you on the train/bus with a simple hello/goodbye.

oh anw i caught this episode of germany's next top model and coincidentally, they brought the top 3 to Singapore! it was totally surreal. haha. they did a fashion show for alldressedup. they werent really that pretty but i liked the black girl and i later found out in the papers that she won!

a summary of amsterdam/paris/london:

Amsterdam: im really glad i went back to amsterdam even though we had a field trip there because i saw the nicer side this time. the previous time all i saw were hookers at their windows, sex shops, coffeeshops and black people. i din get a very good vibe. but this time, we travelled way outta the city centre to the suburbs.... to see a windmill! heh. and on the way while getting lost, we encountered a friendly local with reallyyy cute dogs, a lovely old folk's home (each person gets their own garden and house) and amazing houses.

Paris: supposedly the city of romance but when i first arrived i got a huge shock. i think my expectations of this city were too high. dirty train stations and roads, too many black people, super confusing metro, and wayyyyy too many tourists. but it was still a lovely place. spending 3 days there was definitely not enough. the landmarks were gorgeous and breathtaking. beautiful architecture as usual.

London: the city of musicals!!!!! for every musical, there was a theatre JUST for it. so Wicked, Phantom, Sister Act, Dirty Dancing, Billy Elliot, Avenue Q etc etc all had their very own theatre. you can imagine the amount of theatres they have! There were posters promoting the musicals everywhere! LOVES! London was another crowded city. but besides that, me like! and when we were there, stars like Megan Fox, Shia Labeouf and Britney came!! but we were totally oblivious. i only found out the next day in the tabloids. =((( london is amazingg! Stars are always in the city. i wonder if londoners know how lucky they are. but i dun think they care. haha. and some of my fave british bands were like having concerts here and there but too bad not during when im in london. =( i just really dun like staying in this part of the world ya noe. NOONE ever comes here. and if they do, its once every donkey years. and for that, i love london!

yup. i love every city that i went to. i love europe!! i wish i can travel like lucas! germany, rome, vatican city, venice, vienna, paris, barcelona and god knows where else. saw some of aalok's pix and they are gorgeousss!

- snco cliq outing! at ichiban again! hello girls. pls choose another place next time?? LOL. and they brought us to a new ice cream place called 'udders'. damn cute. it sells alcoholic and non alcoholic ice cream. my Chocmarsh was HEAVENLY. it would be better if the place was a little bigger to accomodate indoor seating. that night was too humid to stay out. =s

- buttered with the bf and his hall frens. it was like a blardy TH invasion. saw so many TH ppl there and i realised i do know qt a number of them beforehand. i dunno why jeremy was so shocked to see me there tho. maybe bcos we haven seen each other since, uh, JC. yea.

- stayed over at his room. we practically spent the WHOLE day sleeping. at first i kept saying i wasnt tired (around 9am?) but once i fell aslp, i refused to get up despite his plentiful and futile attempts to do so. =X so much for going kboxing and eating stingray. hah.

SQUASHHH! from the stated time of 12pm, puay arrived at 230pm and weed, half an hr later. seriously. haha. puay was still saying she wanted to start early. lalalalala. and my legs ached after that! i hope thats a good sign! i need to exercise moreee!!

so i woke up at 3am and was msning the bf till like 7am when i decided to go and find him bcos he was leaving for tw. like hello? why waste time msning when i cld see him f2f. so i bused down (151 took DAMN LONG), nua-ed in his room for awhile and we went to raffles city for brekkie. subsequently, we cabbed down to the airport. he went in ard 1 plus and i went to cut my hair! it was shorter than i expected but HECK. i cant stand my limpy, dead long hair anymore. i was thinking of touching up my dye but i think my money can be better spent on other things esp since when im UBER DUPER SUPER BROKE now. sigh.

and i finally watched finish FMA (the anime and the movie). oh gosh. and now there's fma: brotherhood!! as always, whenever i finish watching a series, i feel a little lost. should i start watching the L word..? hmm.

FB is really powerful. it's truly the first source of information that i get now that i'm permanently stationed in my room mugging.

like how i just learnt that nus is gonna implement temperature checking before exams from monday onwards, thanks to my friend's profile status - which made me go and check my mail. (and this piece of news is just ridiculous! i think moe is overreacting! i pity those ppl with morning papers. they have to reach sch ONE hr earlier. there's peak hr somemore! we're all cooped up in our rooms/ lib mugging. how to get swine flu??? 0.o like we're not frustrated with exams enough!)

like how i just learnt that the new exco of aware got a vote of no confidence (=DD) barely a few min it was announced, thanks to my friends' profile statuses again - which made me go and surf cna.

but it's a double edged sword la. FB IS EVIL AND IMPEDING MY EFFORTS TO MUG.

i'm so proud of myself today. i managed to do 2 readings BEFORE opening my lappy to check fb when i woke up. xD

but seriously, 4 days to mug for 2 modules is no simple task. =s so much readings!!!

walking around the whole day and then going clubbin IN HEELS is NO joke! it borders on suicidal, really.

my toes are still numb after 2 days.

having said tt, i will still wear heels next time. its just feels nice to be taller, esp when ure taller than the guys. -evil luffter-

and. i'll just go straight to winebar for more substantial drinks. the bartender there is veryyy generous with the alcohol. after only one very fiery flaming lambo, the giddiness started to set in. i had two. so yeps. more or less guaranteed a very good night. good or bad music, it wasnt impt anymore. i was too high to bother! hah.

and i finally managed to enter zouk after the past few failed attempts. i was surprised the queue wasnt that long at 9pm.

the anniversary performances were yawn-inducing tho. however, the idiotic crowd just lapped it up whenever drag queens came out and strutted, pouted and posed. lame, if u ask me. zouk x tangs could have done better. we din stay on long for the excruciatingly boring show and headed to phuture as usual.

i must say it was a very ironic night. zouk was celebrating their 18th anniv. but that night, i was disappointed by their music, their dj and their collab. only their drinks shone through. oh wells. zouk will still be THE place to go to.

basically i was a smugger for the past two days.

stayed in smu till 7am yday and till 145am today.

i cant say i was very productive but definitely MORE than what i'd have achieved if i'd stayed at home instead.

anw, the company was great too! (: there were some really funny moments today, at the expense of jas tho! >< she's just so nice to make fun of sometimes! ERPS!

and hrm. being in love is not pros all the time. i really second bern's very wise saying:

i havent contacted him much today bcos he has been slping the whole day. our sleeping times (and awake times) can be rather conflicting at times. but i'll just have to grin and bear it.
its tough, not being able to contact him for so long...

anw everyone's still boggled by the whole grad trip thing.
i cant confirm my immersion thing bcos the deadline's 6 mar and i'll have to wait for the confirmation till then.
my dad told me he'd rather pay for my eurotrip instead since it'll be almost the same cost and i can travel to more countries.
but i guess tts not the main point. since i din get to go sep, 3 weeks in münster will be my best bet? and living in a country and travelling is a totally different experience. those who have gone for sep will attest to that.
besides, i nd to work on my german. just watched valkyrie and i hardly understood a word. heh.
and if i can push my luck further.... i wanna travel around europe after the immersion. =x the immersion's gonna be in one small part of germany only and i think its pretty wasted if i dun at least go to münich or berlin! x)
im crazy for all things deutsch now.
cant wait to eat all the bratwurst, the brot, and maybe sauerkraut? =s

on saturday, i had a date with vaginas!!

yep yep. i caught the play, the vagina monologues!! a few years back, some other theatre production company produced this play by eve ensler... but i was toooo young to watch it then. =D

anw, i thought it was great! it was adapted to a local setting with some dialect which was used to great comical effect. (though the huge lot of ang mohs may have trouble understanding it)

Anw, im surprised that i lasted through 1 and a half hrs of repetitive 61 laps. i din even watch ANY F1 race before this. but the finals was sooo dramatic! crashes, and pit stop accidents. woo hooo. (ok im mean but as long lewis is fine im happyyyyyy)

its been 4 days since i got my baby back !
- my macbook that is.

its working preeeeetty fine. i almost gave up on it after it posted its second hard disk failure. it died in the middle of a tutorial while i was working on an assignment, no less.
this time, i went to epi centre instead of sending it to sch's IT coop. im sick of going back to the mac guys stationed there.

oh, oh.
so yummilicious! look at those colors! my frens are all raving abt it and felix told me straight on that he's getting one just that he hasnt decided on the color. -.- i'm very tempted to get one too but think i shall buy the ipod touch instead.. more functions. hur. and ive been waiting for the 2nd gen to come out... and here it is!
ANW, the Genius feature is not very useful. Er, it is probably bcos of the fact that i hv only 7 albums in my itunes now... but Genius is "unavaliable" for most of my songs, despite having a few albums having the same genre. Wonder how it works. hur.

and did i mention that i have three midterms on thurs???

mugging for eintein's nearly killed all my brain cells. i hv gone thru my german vocab but not to the pt of memorising yet. whats left is advertising. which i hv even bought the stupid book.

Finally!

For the first time, Cors has been kind to me and duly awarded me all my desired tutorial slots! -even the apparently very popular nm2217 tues tut which i'd pushed to third place. I wonder if they actually know that that's the only slot i can make it, since the other one clashes with nm3215. But I don't think Cors is that good. ANW, I'M HAPPY! My timetable is finally finalized~
Weds and Fris off. (FIRST TIME I'VE 3 DAYS WEEK!) But wed will probably be proj day. =S

After his 8 Golds feat, Starhub compiled all his events and replayed them. Watching him swim is thrilling! The commentator couldnt stop gushing that theres no other swimmer like him.
Japan was amazing too! Nvr knew they were so good in swimming!

So far gymnastics, synchro diving, basketball (when china is playing), badminton and table tennis have been pretty interesting as well.
Watching beach volleyball (women) now! China vs USA as usual. They have such GREAAAT bods! The cast in that ch8 show beach.ball.babes should just walk away in shame.
i should really be slping now.

summerlovin seoul

a quick summary of my exploits in seoul.

1st 2 nights, we stayed at seoul guesthouse - a quaint korean traditional house guarded by 2 big fluffy, pepper haired doggies.

nops. they are nt the same dogs tho they are related and oh so cute.

watched Nanta on wed afternoon! its a percussion-drama-comedy spectacular. and the percussion performances made me miss playing long teng and gun he tao with the gals!

At night, we met up with a couple of my sis's frens for some delish bbq pork! i had LOTSA shots of soju and stuffed myself with all the pork. 0_o after a very full dinner, we went on for round 2 at this pretty nice bar. More drinks!! but i had kahlua so it was pretty harmless. Eric'd actually puked when we alighted from the cab. =S

Thur night, we headed to Millenium Seoul Hilton for a National Day Dinner. =S The ppl there were mostly tais tais and businessmen but i din care and just went straight for the foood. The satays werent very nice and the bah kut teh does not look like bah kut teh. (Err.. wheres the bah kut??) My favorite dish was a very non-Singaporean food - smoked salmon roll. it was YUMM! i stuffed my mouth full with it!

Since we were at the hotel, we went to the casino! My first legal, official visit to a casino! hurhur. unfortunately, it din look like anything i'd watched on Las Vegas (the TV show). it wasnt that glam and it was full of HK/PRCs. No dress code too. The next night, we went to another casino operated by the same gang. At the roulette/ blackjack tables were all the high rollers. Its scary how many chips they had! i don't think i have the heart and soul (and guts and money) to gamble like this. So, no gambling for me! After our casino experience, we ate dinner and was just in time to catch the start of the olympics opening! yea, i saw the fake fireworks, giant scroll, dancers painting calligraphy and the "cute" girl singing in that half hour. So i guess i din miss out much! =x din stay long enough to see li jia wei dragging our flag on the ground tho.

Saturday was the long awaited trip to Everland! There was slight drizzling when we reached but the gods showed their mercy and the skies cleared. it was actually pretty sunny! I think we were very lucky bcos most of the popular rides (aka roller coasters) warranted only a 15 min wait for us! the longest wait was 40 min for some water based boat ride thingy. And though it was a Saturday, it wasnt hideously packed. i'd actually just went to Everland the year before so memories of the rides were still clear. But at least i had the time to see different things, walk at different areas and join the Summer Splash Parade! Being splashed with water on a hot summer's day is just sooo fun! And we had a very good dinner at Gangnam! BBQ pork again! i can nvr get sick of it! For dessert, we had it at Red Mango. Ive been wanting to try their stuff! All in all, it was a good good day! :) Too bad my sis fell ill and couldnt join us. =S

Random notes:

Their thumb drives are GORGEOUS! So many different styles. There's bling bling, metallic, etc. Even the normal looking ones are better looking than the ones sold in singapore (boring Sandisk, Imation, Toshiba)! I'm not sure if they are of good quality but at least they look nice. I've been trying to find such styles in sg to no avail. Anw, if u wanna buy electronics, just go Yongsan! Best if you can speak Korean. hurhur. Eric bought a Samsung mp3 there for cheaps~
It's summer time so everyone is pretty dressed down, like how we do in singapore. Sure, there are a few fashionable ppl here and there but majority arent dressed very well IMHO. Their summer fashion sense is a little too kiddy and weird for my liking. BUT they do love wearing their HIGH heels. EVEN IN EVERLAND! Impractical to the max!
Koreans LURRRVE cam-whoring! ANY TIME ANY PLACE. everyone brings a cam when they go out i think. in everland, i witnessed 2 girls snapping away separately. and they're not very good looking. if i were ugly, i wouldnt bother with cam whoring in public. make me more sad only. >.< (which is the case for me now)

So there, we survived 7 days in Seoul. More honeymoons to come please!

first day of school

fell back easily into the going to school routine like the past 3 mths din happen. and it was barely a day after i touched down. this is sad rite? but i dun think im in the study mood yet. actually, never.

anw it wasnt a very smooth sailing day albeit with a couple of good news..

firstly, i was super late for my 2 pm lecture and on 151 i decided not to turn up as i needed to do my tut balloting AND mod bidding......... (i finally struck gold in round 3a! i got my german AND my desired tut slot for gek1508! this is the only time bidding went smoothly for me.) BUT i took the wrong bus home and ended at some expressway near thomson. now i know 151e DOESNT go to adam road. BAH!! stupid bus. i had to take a cab home in peak hour.

and i realised one of the few good things of working (internship at least) is that when u get home u can just rest, watch tv and slack! no printing of lecture notes, no doing tutorials. and its troublesome to access the printer at home esp when my macbook is down again. rahs.

AND AND AND i must add that i barely got my german. i put everything i had in my programme account (903 points) and the winning bid was... guess what? 900 points!! i was damn lucky! so now im veryyy broke. 3 pts (P) and 32 pts (G) left! urgh! im a broke year 3 student! =( no more taking of expensive mods nxt sem. but i only have 2 examinable mods which means that im gonna be qt busy with the non examinable mods! i hope this sem will great or at least better than last sem. :)

our initial plan was to go to some restaurant in chinatown... but turned out it was close (a blessing in disguise cos it looked...er...dubious).

So we trotted down to Central and ate at waraku instead! much much better ambience. And we din have to wait for that long even though there was 10 of us. and we spent over 2 hours there, amazingly.

you cant really see the size of the bowl but it is BIGASS HUGE! the biggest on the table, probably bcos its the most ex? hah. and if i increase the brightness of the photo, the creamy udon will disappear into whiteness oblivion.
